What begins as an attractively dark ruby/purple-colored wine with a spicy, peppery, vanillin, and black currant-scented nose quickly sags in the middle, with a hollowness and lack of extract. The finish offers tannin, without the necessary glycerin and extract. The 1994 Groth Cabernet Sauvignon will last for 7-8 years. Eyes: Dark purple to black/purple Nose: Black currants, cedar wood, cigar tobacco, licorice, smoke Mouth: Tannic, muscular, wines with gravitas Stephen Tanzer: NA Robert Parker: 84 Wine Spectator: 88 Staff: NA
